About KETAK
Vision
Our vision is to establish KETAK as a model center for technological support and innovation, closely aligned with the needs of the modern operational environment. Our goal is the continuous enhancement of the Hellenic Army's operational capabilities through cutting-edge domestic technology, rigorous evaluation, and optimal use of defense resources.

The emblem
The Center's emblem features Archimedes, one of humanity's greatest mathematical minds and a founder of mechanics.
Through his innovative research in physics, mechanics, and mathematics, Archimedes contributed decisively to the fundamental principles of technological science, which continue to inspire and support modern scientific research.
At the heart of the emblem is his famous phrase:
“Give me a place to stand and I shall move the earth.”
(Greek original: «Δός μοι πᾶς τῶ καὶ τὰν γᾶν κινάσω»)
This phrase reflects the power that comes from knowledge and innovation, and expresses the Center's philosophy of systematically applying scientific principles and technology to accomplish its mission.
Historical Milestones
Our Journey Through Time
Founding of SKEM
KETAK's core began as the Military Research and Studies Center (SKEM), established as a unit of the Technical Corps and housed in the facilities of 301 EB. Its main mission was to meet the needs of the KYP in cryptography.
Renamed to KEEThA
SKEM was renamed to the National Defense Research Center (KEEThA) and moved to its own building in Galatsi alongside the 'R' branch of KYP (today's E' Directorate of EYP), under which it operated.
Independent Unit
By decision of SAGE, KEEThA became an independent unit under the then Hellenic Armed Forces Headquarters, today's HNDGS.
New Facilities
On April 1, 1985, KEEThA relocated to new facilities in Amygdaleza, Municipality of Acharnes, at the 'Mavrovouniotis' camp.
Renamed to KETAK
By decision of the Ministry of National Defense (Gov. Gazette 121 TB'/27 Feb 92), KEEThA was assigned to HAGS/DEPli and renamed to the Army Research and Technology Center (KETES).
Relocation After Earthquake
Following the devastating earthquake of September 7, 1999, the Center relocated to the facilities of the 'ANHI (INF) PLESSAS MICHAEL' camp.
Current Headquarters
The latest headquarters change took place in June 2021, with the decision to move the Center to the Hellenic Army Academy camp in Vari.
Current Name
The latest name change occurred in 2024, when the Center was renamed from KETES to the Research Center for Technological Development and Innovation (KETAK).
